ISU in Lima, Peru Colloquium

COLLOQUIUM: IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY IN LIMA, PERU

Wednesday, February 04, 2015 from 12:00pm-1:30pm in 130 Design

This colloquium will help inform students and faculty members at Iowa State about growing opportunities for collaborations with designers and design students in Lima, Peru. Presenters will include Clare Cardinal-Pett, associate professor of architecture; Cristina Dreifuss, director of the urban research group INTUY Lab, Lima; Marwan Ghandour, professor of architecture and director of the Master of Urban Design graduate program; and Max Viatori, associate professor of anthropology.

Topics will include the history of this rapidly expanding venue for studies in urbanism as well as overviews of current research initiatives and student study abroad oppportunities:

  • Ghandour’s new Master of Urban Design spring studio, which will study Lima as a whole and develop proposals for a once-vibrant industrial corridor (Marwan Ghandour)
  • Cardinal-Pett’s Studio Andino spring option studio and Viatori’s anthropological research in Lima, which will help inform Studio Andino’s activities in 2015

Dreifuss is a crucial player in these projects and an important resource for future developments.
